01 / CONTEXT

Context & product hypothesis

This project began as an adaptation of an open-source e-ink project. It explores how the experience could move to iPad, and how slow writing, ink-like visuals, and narrative interaction might create a more intimate interface.

Compared with a conventional chat interface, restrained ink visuals, tactile feedback, and gradual responses may make a digital conversation feel like a personal object with memory.
02 / APPROACH

Planned approach

  1. 01

Review the original project and deploy it locally

  2. 02

Adapt the experience for iPad screens and touch

  3. 03

    Document inherited and modified parts

  4. 04

Prepare independent naming, assets, and demo flow

  5. 05

Review licensing and attribution before publishing

04 / DECISIONS

Three key product decisions

01

Treat slowness as an interaction material

Gradual responses and ink transitions create narrative pacing instead of imitating instant chat.

02

Recompose for iPad, not simply scale up

Touch targets, orientation, and reading distance require separate design decisions.

03

Make adaptation boundaries explicit

The public version will separate upstream licensing, inherited work, and personal modifications.

05 / EVALUATION

Proposed evaluation framework

These are proposed measures awaiting calibration—not results or invented scores.

06 / OPEN SOURCE

Making inheritance and adaptation explicit

WHAT I INHERITED

Original structure and core e-ink interaction.

WHAT I CHANGED

iPad layout, touch behavior, and local runtime experience.
